Hi All,
Heading out to Mt K next week. Just wondering if we can setup camp anywhere or if we need to be in a campsite? Their site says:
"Backpack camping is permitted almost anywhere in the northern part of the park except for Currango Homestead, Yarrangobilly Caves and Blue Waterholes day use and gorge areas."
If not, can anyone recommend a good campsite up on the mountain? We wanted to stay in the snow as we are preping for bigger/better trips
Cheers, Adam.

It's a big national park. Where are you likely to be entering the park? No use recommending somewhere at Kiandra if you are looking to enter near Thredbo.

Sorry I cannot source the map and have to run. There are some area's that no camping is allowed up on the main range around Blue lake etc.
I recall it was clearly sign posted but that was in summer and it's probably 3 foot under the snow now.
There was a map on this website under a thread I thought somewhere ??

Hi Adzza,
You can camp nearly anywhere on the Main Range except in the catchments of the alpine lakes.
A nice place to camp near Mt Kosciuszko is in the Wilkinsons Creek valley just west of Mt Kosciuszko.

This is the sign you may see up there.

The Glacial Lake limits are the main ones. But there is also a general limit to no camping within 100m of roads, daywalk areas and ski fields. Ditto on Tony's "Wilkinsons Creek" suggestion - great spot.
