I've always wanted to like a trip along Narrow Neck with a trip up Mt Solitary, and descending down Castle Head and crossing Ruined Castle seems like a pretty interesting way to do it. I haven't read anything about passes down the head, and I've only read of people abseiling it.
Would there be a possibility of a pass existing there or does anyone know of one? I believe I once saw photos from David Noble's website of a decent which I believe was Castle Head. It had a massive choke stone wedged between a large crack in the cliff, and it looked like you went through the crack in the decent, but I'm not quite sure if it was at Castle Head.

I think the pass you described is Devils Hole
http://www.david-noble.net/bushwalking/ ... Ledge.htmlThis takes you into the Megalong, on the west side of Narrowneck, whereas Mt Solitary is on the East

There is a climbing route up Castle Head - but it is a proper rock climb. I don't think it is too hard - probably around grade 12-15 from memory. I haven't done it - but have seen notes on it. I think it needs some trad gear.
I think this would be a far better trip than abseiling down the head.

Jonnosan - Right you are! It looks like it was the Devils Hole I was thinking of. Definitely looks like an interesting spot to check out.
Dave - Sounds a bit above my capabilities at the moments, considering I've only ever been rock climbing indoors. Hopefully I'll get around to that sort of stuff soon though, I'm planning on getting some rope experience before the end of the year.
