Gidday all. We are hoping to do Dead Horse Gap - Cascade Hut return within the next few weeks and are wondering what the water supply, if any is like. We intend to spend a night or possibly two as we will have young children with us for their first overnight hiking trip. As we will be carrying most of their gear space will be at a premium. Obviously with the current weather/fire situation we will be monitoring this closely. Any info will be very appreciated.

There won't be any problems, there is a creek near the hut which should be flowing, and Cascade Creek is not far and it would definitely be flowing.

I camped near Cascade Hut on boxing day, it was quiet cold that night. The hut has a dirt floor with a sleeping platform to one end. The hut does not have a water tank, but water was available from a creek about 200 metres down a slight hill. There is shade from the surrounding trees, nice flat tent sites and a toilet. It is a bit of a slog back to Dead Horse; 365m ascent,295 descent, 9.5k: (Chapman, Chapman & Siseman 2009).
