Gingra trail condition?

Thu 21 Mar, 2013 6:11 pm

G'day, anybody know what sort of state the Gingra trail is in lately. I'm looking at a romp down it tomorrow (maybe a side trip down roots ridge?) but being my first time in the area i don't really know what to expect.

conflicting reports say it's a straight forward march whilst others talk about loosing their way and experiencing navigational difficulties??...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Some parts of Gingra Ridge - lower down - were a bit overgrown last year after all the summer rain. It was possible to walk off the track in places. Going down to Roots Ridge should be fine.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I was considering going down roots and up rileys ridge to link up with the old cedar rd then back around to the kowmung and back up Gingra track. Do you know if Rileys ridge has any sort of foot track?

A general rule of thumb is that all the ridges on the east side of the Kowmung are fairly open - and provide good walking.

Denis Ridge has a firetrail and a track - that goes down the the river - down a spur - almost to the bottom of Roots Ridge - but the track lower down is quite hard to find and follow (and generally not worth the bother of trying to find it). I would think Rileys should be fairly easy walking. I cant remember if I have been up or down it.
