Hi All,
Does anyone know what the area at the junction of Tootie creek and the Colo river is like for camping? Couldn't seem to find any photos of the area..
Was thinking of doing Bob turners Track but figured the T3 being a little more difficult would probably mean the area a bit more quiet.
Originally had planned to go down Long point to Mccallums flat next week but unfortunately the whole area is closed due to 2 weeks of for Pest management (aeiral shooting of goats ).
Cheers
Jeff

Not great I am afraid. Mostly rocks and trees. No grassy flats.

Probably explains why i couldn't find any pics or much info on campsites there..
Might have to think about Canoe Creek instead. Looks as though there are quite a few sand banks that would be alright from the pics ive seen.
Does anyone know how popular Bob Turners Track or Canoe Creek gets on the weekend around this time of year?
Or could you suggest any similar walks near water that may be in a different part of the mountains?
Cheers for your help
Jeff

Kanangra - what are you talking about?! There's a massive sand bank about 100m S of the junction most of the time, where the T3 Track comes out. Great camping! You'd probably have it to yourself.

Oh well. Must be my memory playing up. I don't recall that at all.

Maybe you were there right after one of the Colo floods of recent years!
The junction itself is rocks and trees, but the sandbank has been there every time I've been there (4 times?)

You can camp out on the sand bank in the sun, which would be OK in cool weather. You can go further out and camp on the river gravel, but I am not sure why. You can also camp where the track reaches the sand, at the edge of the forest. I guess, all told, you could get a whole club down there.
Cheers

Erskine Creek - near the junction of Lincoln Creek is hard to beat for a nice campsite. Access via Pisgah Rock.

Thanks for the heads up about MacCallum flat area being closed. I was just about to head to Long Point Lookout for a weekend on the Shoalhaven. Now what is plan B?
