I went down there this morning via the track from behind Cowan Oval. (Oxfamers would be familiar with that, it is the first checkpoint) Excellent short walk to the point with great views out over Berowra Ck. There is a small camping spot at the end of the firetrail and then some stone steps lead down to the waters edge. Here there is some old foundations perhaps of a boatshed or wharf? From the drill marks in the rock face behind the stone was quarried on site. On the return trip I explored a side track off to the left and the old quarry in the upper reaches of Kimmerikone Ck. I notice that the soil conservation service is doing some work in there at the moment.
A very pleasant short outing. Anyone know the history of this area?

I believe it was a typical waters-edge holiday house at one stage, but the NPWS cleaned it up decades ago.
Cheers

thanks I did wonder because the road in is engineered to higher standards than your average fire trail.

I know. I'm going back and will take my camera next time.
It is only short but I really enjoyed this walk. I should mention there is a sign about 500m in saying Muogamara NR. Entry by permission. There is then a phone number that I didn't note down. So depending on how you feel about these things you may like to just ring first?
