Hello all,

Can anyone recommend a tour guide for bush walks in the Blue Mountains?

Cheers

Simon

Play around with Google and I'm sure you'll find people who'll take lots of money off you to go bushwalking with them. I doubt you will get too many recommendations here though, as members tend to do their own thing or are in a club. Which brings me to Cut and Paste from a recent thread:-

"You sound like a candidate for the Upper Blue Mountains Bushwalking Club. Friendly mob with some very knowledgeable people. Like just about all bushwalking clubs these days, they have an older age bias, but this doesn't limit their walks. At $25 a year, you've not too much to lose."

PS. Disclosure of interest. Despite living two plus hours from Katoomba, I am a member of UBMBC. I do not, however, receive any referral payment.

Thanks Grabeach,

I am looking for someone who can work for my company (Inspiration Outdoors) as a guide in order to take our clients out.

Cheers

Simon,

Call Dylan from Blue Mountains Adventure Company (http://www.bmac.com.au/). He owns two of the four commercial canyoning operators in the mountains (he also runs climbing, abseiling, bushwalking tours etc). He is also on the local tourism board, the outdoor adventure council, and generally seems to know every guide in the Blue Mountains. He'll either be able to help you, or will put you in touch with someone good. Also for disclosure, I went to high school with him, but I only reconnected in recent years due to outdoor pursuits.

You could also make contact with the Wentworth Falls TAFE - http://wsiinternational.tafensw.edu.au/ ... ation/144/ - the run an adventure tourism course.

I did an abseil trip last year with BMAC (a christmas present) and the guide was a recent grad, I was quite impressed with his skills, demeanor and enthusiasm.

Main problem with finding people running bushwalking tours for the Blue Mountains is that there is no need for them, as the best walks are all fairly easy. Katoomba YHA did have someone they were directing someone to, but they are now connected with High and Wild http://highandwild.com.au which claim to run bush walks but don't have any listed. The National Parks and Wildlife Service http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au should know who is offering tours and do use third parties for their Discovery walks.

Hi Simon, do you have an idea of what walks you would like to do?
