Is there a route along the Coxs from Breakfast Creek to the intersection of the Kanangra to Katoomba track at Yellow Pup Ridge? I'm thinking this might be a nice 3/4 day walk from Katoomba.

Yes - it is quite easy walking. No track as such - but you can walk along the banks. You do however need to cross the river quite often - generally on the inside of bends. In some places there are long grassy flats and in other places the flats may be covered in weeds and nasty vegetation (which can range from nettles to blackthorn). In some places you need to climb around small bluffs or rifts - and this can slow you down a bit (unless you are on the other side of the river). If going becomes to slow - then you can always climb up a ridge to gain the track (old horse track) that goes from Medlow Gap to Mt Yellow Dog and descends via Yellow Pup.
I think it was easier to walk along the river back in the old days when cattle and horse tracks made the easiest way simpler to find. You still needed to cross often though.
I would expect to walk from the Breakfast Ck junction to Kanongaroo would take between half and a full day - depending on your walking speed, party size and the conditions. Campsites are generally better upstream of Merrigal Ck (and there is a nice small campsite at the junction)
Walking down the river now - I would think would be very easy - as the river is probably very low (I walked a section of the Kowmung River last weekend - and it was very low - more a series of dry pools with little or no flow.

Thanks Dave. I might give it a go in the next few weeks.

I walked that section many years ago and agree in general with what Dave Noble has written in his description.
