Forest walk to Sublime Point

Tue 13 May, 2014 11:14 am

Has anybody hiked this trek recently: Forest walk to Sublime Point? It's Illawara escarpment. I'm planning to go this sunday. And we will bring GPS but just wondering if it's easy to find the way, I can't find any walk descriptions anywhere.
Cheers,
Eline

If you don't get some first hand information from other contributors, PM me and I'll put you touch with a friend who has run it a few times in the last few weeks.

Hi,

I haven't walked it for some years so I can't comment on current conditions. It's a nice walk with many great views. Just be careful when crossing the wooden bridge it is notoriously slippery.

The Forest Track runs from Stanwell Park in the north to Maddens Plains in the south. It is on the NSW SIX Maps website.
Go here: http://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/.
In the top right corner click on the "Map Contents" button and select "Dynamic Labels".
Again in the top right corner click on "Basemap" and select "NSW Map" (bottom of the two map options).
Top left corner do a search for "Stanwell Park".
From the search results select the first result.
Map will now zoom to Stanwell Park. You should be able to see the Wodi Wodi track label at the bottom. Click on the map and drag it up a bit and use the slider on the left to zoom in. The Forest Track should appear as a dashed line. Unfortunately you have to stay zoomed in to see the actual track layer (which is a pain).

Cheers,
Michael.

Thanks for the details Michael. Those maps are great. Except for the zooming in part.
