Hi all,
Planning a trip to the Colo River area (the Mountain Lagoon Loop via Colo Meroo and Tootie Creek) and was wondering if anyone knows what the water quality is like for drinking?
I'm also thinking about whether to reverse the standard route and use lilos to "cruise" downstream instead of the standard wading upstream option... anyone done this before? Would be great to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel

I have a feeling that it might be in the archives of this lot
http://www.subw.org.au/recent/20110626- ... creek.html - read about it years ago but its not immediately obvious. Or possibly the fat canyoners - this link looked interesting, but you probably have it?
http://fatcanyoners.org/bush-guide/colo-river-passes/ . I'm halfway with you - it would be great to *hear* about the trip....
Also suggestions for a Lilo section on this page
http://bushwalkingnsw.com/region.php?nid=210. Might be more on the NSW page? Enjoy - and check first, I went to Bob Turner's track last year and it had just been closed, don't know how much of the park is/was affected.

Hi
I did this loop as a long day walk a couple of year's ago in April....clockwise/downstream.
About 50% of the time you're in the river, and the other 50% walking amongst the brush on the river banks (to avoid the deeper sections and semi-quicksand). A lot of the brush was angled at 45 degrees due to flooding, and therefore much easier to push through heading downstream. The first section to the bend was more on the river bank, the second section after the bend was more in the river.
We popped a couple of tablets with the water, but I'm not sure that was really necessary.
It was a great walk, and we came across no one, even though it was in the holidays.
