If you want something longer, the Dangars Falls to Salisbury Waters walk in Oxley Wild Rivers NP is worthwhile. About 14km or 15km return from memory. Has a section of quite steep gorge descent and some great scenery including the falls near the start. It's also a fairly short drive from Armidale, maybe 1/2 hour or so I think (was a few years ago).

Some nice walks in the New England National Park, especially the Five Day Creek walk.

Dangars Gorge or Gara Gorge - both are about a 15-20 minute drive from Armidale. Gara is an easier, more graded walk.
