Tambo creek

Hi,

I've been wandering around the Colo for the better part of a year now. I walked into Tambo creek for the first time a few weeks ago and was wondering if one can walk all the way up to the ridge along the waterway located after the second bend on Tambo creek? Near -33.311, 150.540 ? I want to check out [redacted] to see if there's any rock art there.

Yes - certainly possible to walk up Tambo Creek, but easier to walk down it.

Tambo C is ALL bends, so talking about the 'second bend' is not real helpful.

Giving grid references to possible rock art violates the Forum rules (see in red above), but in this case I doubt there is anything there. We have walked up Tambo Ck: it was rather rocky and slow. Did not see anything likely.

Thanks for the info. I'm planning on heading down to the national library to try and find a copy of Bob & co's sketch map. Maybe that'll shed light on a route that'd let me do Tambo on the return. If not I might just check out Angorwara Creek, that's also been on the bucket list for a while and much easier to integrate into an overnighter. Also are you the same Noble as wollemia nobilis? If so, it's an honour!

Sorry about that, I've removed the location from the original post. I read the forum rules (http://bushwalk.com/rules.php) but somehow missed the big red box, can you believe it? Thanks for the info, rocky and slow does sound like the Colo!

I've walked Tambo Creek upstream for 8 or so km up from where it joins the Colo River. Reasonably easy going, might be harder actually getting to the creek than walking up it! It's mostly just rock slab, the main obstacles being fallen trees to climb over. I then headed up onto the ridge to the north and then down into Pinchgut Creek.

Nothing more than a short handline, which wasn't used here although I did use it once or twice getting between the Island and Angorawa Creek
