KNP roadside toilets - is there toilet paper?

Sat 16 Jun, 2018 3:58 pm

In the bush it's BYO toilet paper. At campsites where there is vehicular access the toilets normally have paper. Is there a reasonable expectation that roadside toilets have paper?

I have an unconfirmed report that toilets at Long Plain Hut, Geehi Flats and Keebles Hut. It seems that PWS are no longer supplying paper, and a few visitors were inconvenienced.

Can anyone confirm or deny the above?

Can't confirm or deny but suggest unless you want to use a digit or some bracken BYO.

Anyone who expects the P&WS to supply their dunny paper deserves to be left with a dirty bum.

I always BMO, even to places where I know it's supplied, as you can never be sure that some idiot tourists haven't gone and trashed/stolen/used up the lot.

Agree about the theft. In some places it's locked, like this:

I'm advised that PWS have signs saying no more paper, and am seeking confirmation of this.

That's one night for a bunch of teenagers or a few old blokes on port.

Government cut backs.

BYO and you'll be certain, rely on others and you may be left without.

Usually locked off, so too hard to pinch?.

Am surprised at some spots that have a nice soft tissue provided.

Always BYO just incase!

I prefer my own 3 ply anyway. I can remember one popular spot in NSW had something like a grease proof 1 ply supplied. Kind of just spread things around instead of wiping it off. The campsites near me in Vic are regularly supplied but then in Sept you get 60 or more rafters in one spot and there is not hope. They then have the hide to complain. I wonder what the toilet paper budget is for parks? Perhaps there could be some money to be saved. Just put a sign up when you enter warning that there is no toilet paper. Parks people like signs.

Unless it's at a major tourist information centre with food services etc, I don't see it's up to the NPs to supply toilet papers across its jurisdiction. It'd be an inappropriate use of resources. It's up to the visitors to bring their own, just as for food and water and cameras. It's already quite a feat to supply well maintained sanitation facilities out in the bush and I am already grateful.

I'll agree that Parks should not have to supply TP. But one of the reasons they did was try try and ensure the TP going into the composting toilets was the best selection for the composting toilet to digest.

There's a lot of good information above. The question is asking for confirmation that PWS are no longer supplying paper. Has anyone seen a sign saying that paper will no longer be supplied?
