Nattai Road

Sun 05 Jan, 2025 5:53 pm

Hi All,
just wanted to let Nattai NP users know I've been using Nattai Rd the last couple of weeks on cooler days and the overgrowth is clearing up. Some sections always were almost original condition, but now the other sections are a fairly quick single track (bit slower than Starlights). This allows access to the northern part of the park and of course Beloon Pass if you follow the River directly. I haven't ventured much pass the old 'Middle Flat" (Sloss Book name), that's about where the road first gets close to Nattai river. After this point, much of original road near the banks was destroyed by floods, (but can now be done by direct river walking).

Like Starlights the more we use the road the more likely it will not overgrow again or atleast not as much as before.

Also found a pair of Decathlon walking sticks half way down if anyone wants to claim them.

Thanks for the report RobS. Sounds like your walking has made a difference as last time I was there I found some quite over grown sections ;)

Looking forward to actually reaching the Nattai this time.

Mate, your walking has absolutely had an impact. I made it down to the river on Saturday and, well, they can definitely take the word “road” out of the title but it’s a lot better than it was.

When it gets like this there’s not much chance of losing the track, impossibly impenetrable walls either side. …it’s thick in there, phewww!,

Great you made it down, must have ben fun coming up was a hot day or did you leave very early.

I got the Middle Flat ref wrong, the camp I was talking about was close Lady ck junction with Nattai River about 1km up stream of what sloss calls Middle Flat. .

Thanks for sharing this, I don't think I've visited that part of the river for quite some time and remembered it being pretty overgrown.
I'll have to dig out my old Sloss guide to confirm your references with my memory, but sounds like I'll pay the area another visit.

Cheers
