snowy mountains rescue

Tue 03 Aug, 2010 8:29 pm

I heard about this one on the radio this morning.

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/anger-over-10 ... 114lj.html

sounds like some really fun conditions to test out some gear!
- 10 degrees, a 1m dump of snow in 48 hours, blizzard strength winds.... i Just grin to myself and really wish I was up there doing some tent testing.

From Perisher to Blue Lake/Twynam area, in a blizzard?
Blooming Hell, I'm glad I wasn't there.

Ditto . The radio report I heard this morning said rescuers "walked" them out from Blue Lake to Perisher. Doesn't sound right if they arrived in a snow cat :?. Seems they would be in no condition to walk anyway, and with 1m of snow? I've said before that I really wonder about the accuracy of media reports in such incidents.
