There have been a bit of interest in walking Mt Tennant in the ACT so I though I might add a quick post about a trip to it's close neighbour Baroomba Rocks.
I stayed up on top on friday night, nearby the cliff so I could take some photos in the morning. It's about a 45 minute walk from the carpark to the top of the bluff. The actual summit of the mountain is to the south and a further walk through scrub.
It was freezing cold but a beautiful blue sky day so I went home, had some brekkie and returned with a mate to climb the cliffs.
There is a tiny amount of snow on baroomba but not much to be seen on other Mts from a distance.

Nice.
Which routes did you do ? It'd be 15 years since I climbed at Booromba. Lovely crag.

Equilibrium, only. It was the first climb of the season. I was a bit rusty too
It's too cold to climb in winter in Canberra. Atleast Baroomba faces northish and gets the sun all day.

Its been a while, 1983 I think, I was SOOOOOOOOOOO brown corduroy trousers of Equilibrium as I somehow got off route and missed the last bolt on the crux and ran it out to the belay BUT the last few metres were covered in pine needles.
Thanx for the memories, I must get back!

That bolt is a bit of a joke. It's about 15 unprotected metres to get to it and almost nothing to hold onto. I prefer my routes with jugs lol...
