Crookwell camping?

Anyone know of a good spot around Crookwell NSW to pitch a tent? Looking to be next to a river or lake.

I haven't been to this campsite but a guy from work used to camp here regularly a few years ago and loved it

There are a couple of spots that are very good, that are campsites for the BNT.

Crookwell Showground. Camp on the flat area on the left using the verandah for shelter. There are toilets, showers and water. Your stay should be arranged with the Showground Secretary 0427 110 637 and a small fee applies or phone Russell Stevenson on 02 4832 0031.

There is also a campsite at Broken Bridge Traveling Stock Reserve on Roslyn Road, 8 kilometres East of Crookwell. Broken Bridge TSR is beside the Wollondilly. You will need to notify one of the Goulburn LHPA Rangers, at least 24 hours in advance. The LHPA Goulburn Office is 02 4821 2522 or talk to LHPA Senior Ranger Mark McGaw 0428 484 674.

I'm a big fan of camping on the TSRs. They are the best rural campsites in NSW. The TSR campsites have been used by shepherds and drovers from as far back as the 1830s-40s ... to today.

Wollondilly River Station campsite is great. Grassed and open, right next to the river. Good for kayaking. Trout spot too.
Nearby is Wombeyan Caves Campsite, with more facilities - firepits and taps in the campsites, clean toilets, good cooking area and enclosed rec room with great atmospheric fire. Often has scout groups and Camp Quality groups who are staying in the cabins. Limestone caves tours (better than Jenolan IMO - more 'cavey', less touristy). Day walks nearby. If coming from Sydney side I'd recommend you drive the longer route via Taralga, rather than via Mittagong and the dirt Wombeyan Caves Road, unless you want a slower windy scenic route. - (through Bullio Station - friends managed it -my old stomping ground mustering and training endurance horses before it got subdivided) NB cold in winter
