Rescue near Narrow Neck

I've just came from Narrow Neck and there were at least 9 police rescue and ambulance vehicles parked at the Golden Stairs Carpark.

Apparentlying they were trying to rescue someone that had fallen. Channel 7 news crew was there but I haven't read anything about it online. Anyone have any info?

Walker seriously injured in fall helicoptered out during break in fog.
My guess is it happened on the western end of Solitary.

It turned out to be a busy weekend for our crews. There were a number of incident of Saturday, including the one previously reported at Glenbrook. Then, about 12.15pm yesterday rescue officers and paramedics were alerted to a seriously injured man on the western end of Mt Solitary. The man in his early 30s was walking in the area when he fell some 20m. He sustained numerous fractures and chest injuries. Crews hiked 2 hours to get to him and were met by paramedics and a doctor who had been airlifted in some distance down the mountain. Poor weather hampered rescue efforts, however about 5.00 the Ambulance Service of NSW helicopter was able to return and winch the man out. He was flown to hospital in a serious condition. This morning again saw our officers and PolAir out looking for a man reported overdue in the Megalong Valley. After about 2 hours of searching he was located uninjured. Police encourage people to enjoy the outdoor opportunities in the Blue Mountains, but urge those going out to Think Before You TREK - visit www.trek.nsw.gov.au

Today Anthony was finally released from the ICU and is now in a ward for a while. As reported, he has suffered multiple fractures to ribs, his right arm/elbow, forearm and an ankle.
Although details of the actual accident are still a bit vague it seems that he broke a handhold (or possibly a large piece of rock) in one of the scrambling sections and fell long and badly. He managed to crawl back up to his pack (Ouch!) where he wrapped himself in his emergency blanket and waited for help.

Tony would like to give his heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in his stabilization and subsequent evacuation.
