about an hours drive north is Minyon Falls. Nightcap National Park, there is a short walk to the lookout but a really really nice loop walk to the base of the falls. Or 45 minutes south lots of nice coastal walks around Evans Head - Bundjalung National Park and Broadwater National Park.

Number one walk is to summit Mt Warning of course. First place on mainland Australia that the sun hits. Although often shrouded in cloud !! (it is up a bit further near Murwillimbah, but worth the effort)

The minyon falls walk is spectacular but unfortunately it's closed at the moment due to a bushfire that was lit by mindless vandals about three weeks ago. The latest news story is here

To add to awildland's suggestions you could go try Goanna Headland at Evans Head, the walk around Cape Byron and the lighthouse at Byron Bay, Rocky Creek dam is nice, Protestors Falls at Terania Creek, Broken Head Nature reserve, or if you can drive I'd recommend checking out the Border Ranges, there's a few nice walks up there too.
ALWAYS be yourself.
Unless you can be outside, then ALWAYS be outside.
