I am planning to do this walk in October having done sections at the Kanangra end and Carlons end but not yet the whole way through. Could someone advise if there is reliable water at Dex Creek and near Coxs RIver and if this is likely to be the case in October. We want to do it "cruisy" and make take four days just to enjoy being out there.
Many thanks!

Hi Bushgirl,
Dex Creek and Kanangra Creek are both reliable water sources.

I agree regarding Dexters Ck and Kanangra Ck. I did see the very lowest part of Kanangra Creek (at the Coxs junction) dry one time, though I'm sure a walk upstream would have found some. Maybe take some tablets just in case you need to use the Coxs water.
I was in Nattai last week and some of the medium sized creeks were isolated pools, which was a surprise. I wonder how some of the smaller creeks in the southern Blue Mtns may currently be in comparison.

If you want some local info closer to the time of your walk contact the Central West Bushwalking Club on their website at
www.centralwestbushwalking.org.au. Also if you are interested I'm aiming to do a 3 day walk out to the Dex's Ck area from Kanangra on the October long weekend. Tangles
