Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone knew the Water Tank Levels at Coxs River and Black Range camp recently ?

Also is there much water in the Little River near Alum Creek Campground ? Does it look drinkable these days ?

I'm looking at doing a walk the weekend after the October Long Weekend.

Do you think there will be much water after a long weekend or will have everyone on the weekend have already drained it ?

Are there any other places near the Six Foot Track to get water from other than the Water Tank at Coxs River, Black Range camp and the Little River near Alum Creek ?

Thanks

Hi there
Was down the Coxs River on a day walk on Saturday and there was water in the tank. How much after the long weekend??? - Well I'd be carrying a bit extra as it seemed to be used heavily.

Just on the Coxs River camp - when we went down the campsite was chokers with 4WD's, trail bikes, loud music and beer cans. I'd imagine the October Long weekend will be just as busy. Does anyone know if this is meant to be a shared camp? Ie walkers and vehicles. It did ruin the peace of the place and alot of the overnight walkers we passed heading for the Cox's were considering other camping spots.

I believe that area is shared. Same issue when we did the Six Foot Track from Jenolan several years ago. The 4WD crowd etc stayed on the other side of the river but were very noisy. Other than that they didn't worry us and thankfully went to bed relatively early.

I'm part of the 4WD crowd as well, albeit, quieter LOL. We used to drive in to the coxes camp multiple times a summer season for extended weekends away. Yes, we have struck 4WD loud red neck city there as well, but would have thought that now the fences were up, it would have reduced the number of 4WD's camping down there, as we camp with a camper trailer when we went there, there is no longer room for us to really setup and won't be back this summer.

I recall accessing a hydrant (!) along the fire trail after the Nellie's Glen descent. Aside from the tanks and Alum Creek there's not a lot else. Treat the water from the creek thoroughly! I'd treat the tank water as well just to be sure.
