Chimneys/Teddy's Hut?

Anyone familiar with this region?
I am assuming I can follow the Thredbo River from Dead Horse Gap up to Teddy's. Is anyone familiar with the going east from there across to the Barry Trail and the Mowamba River?

There's not much left of it.

The hut has been rebuilt, but it's pretty basic. Take a tent.
There's a brumby pad leads up along the river, you just continue up past the footbridge from the Cascade FT. Or climb up the ridge and go in via the Brindle Bull and Leo, which is a fun walk. Or over Chimney's Ridge, which is even better. Again, plenty of brumby pads. Worth getting up to Drift Hill and across the saddle there to Mt Moonbah - and it's an easier route than along the Mowamba.
Getting across to Barry Way is problematical, as it's all private property along the road. You'd have to get permission from the landowner/s.

Crumbs, it sure has been rebuilt. It was just a ruin last time I was there but then that was probably 20 years ago?

Kanagara,
Perhaps the 2004 photo seems more familiar?

Now that's Teddy's Hut as I remember it. How things are constantly changing.

NNW,
Thanks for the info.
I am actually heading for the Barry Trail (aka Barry Fire Trail on some maps), not the Barry Way (the names are kinda confusing). Barry Trail is about 4 K east of Teddy's, 1.5 K steep descent south from Moonbah Mountain - all still within the KNP boundary.

Ahhhhhh, sorry, kind of misread that as it's a personal bugbear for me. I've been wanting to go in from Barry Way for years, to get at Trooper and the country around there, but am yet to find a legal way in. Even the Fire Trails are offically private access only, or so I've been told.
But I would be surprised if there wasn't a brumby pad from Moonbah down to the FT. That area is riddled with them. Does make the walking a little easier is some sections.

NNW,
After doing some digging in the NSW Lands register and Snowy River Shire Council minutes, I discovered the Barry Fire Trail is marked as a road reserve on surveys as far back as 1914, and was converted to a 'road' in 1999. So, public access even if it does run over private land further down the Mowamba.
Mt Trooper is well within KNP, and should be accessible from Barry Way, assuming you can get across the Snowy itself. Or am I missing something?

You may need to take a copy of the relevant doco to convince the farmer that you do know what you are talking about. Sometimes, some of them might like to persuade you that it is closed/private.
Cheers

Pepper, not Trooper. (Must be working too hard) All that area east of Chimneys Ridge, in fact.
The roads are all signed as private roads, they are all gated at property boundaries with 'private property' signs and, according to the authorities, there is no public access without landowner permission.
Makes me wonder what happens if there's a fire up there.
