NPWS have put this around today. A number of tracks around Wentworth Falls (Blue Mountains NP) will be closed for helicopter operations on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th January.

While the helicopter will only be lifting materials in for the Den Fenella Walking Track upgrade between 7am and 11am, the following tracks will be closed all day both days for safety reasons: National Pass, Wentworth Pass, Vera Falls, Undercliff track, Den Fenella track, and Rocket Point.

I've attached the map below with exact details. Be aware that the lifting may be postponed by the weather. If you're hoping to walk around there on those days, you can double check the closures on the NPWS website or by calling the office at Blackheath –- 4787 8877.

Pity they didn't include Stonehaven Pass as part of their upgrade.

Good to see, they have been doing quite alot of work in the Blue Mountains lately.
Wonder why they don't wait till after school holidays though.

Uni student volunteer labour as a kind of unstated prerequisite to consideration as an NPWS ranger/employee?

The planned Helicopter operations and track closures for Wentworth Falls on the 9-10th January 2013 have been postponed.

I'll repost when NPWS notifies the new dates.

I'm guessing the helicopter and staff resources have been redirected to firefighting.

NPWS have advised that this helicopter lifting operation -- with the same track closures -- is now taking place this Thursday, January 17.
