Current HR burns (and incidents, if any) are here - http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?cat_id=683

HR advisory is listed here, shown statewide (until mid-April 2013) - http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?cat_id=689

The links would be useful for other like-minded bushwalkers/trail-runners/MTBs at other times in the future.

I guess it is the Linden Ridge HR burn that caused traffic issues on the GWH at Faulconbridge on the morning of Thursday, March 28 - viz to <10m, as reported on ABC radio.
Is the St Helena HR burn making The Oaks FT off limits at the moment (28th, 29th March)?

I want to walk Pierces Pass to Perry's Lookdown (or Lockleys Pylon), as well as Golden Stairs - Mt Solitary - Kedumba Pass this weekend.
Will the views be dismal courtesy of the HR smoke?

Many thanks.

This week the smoke has been thick down in the Nepean Valley, but a mate of mine has been posting photos from his house at Wentworth Falls showing clear skies and impressive sunrises and sunsets. I think it is very unlikely smoke will be a problem up there. It almost always runs down the mountains and settles in the valleys.

No smoke at all here in upper mountains, beautiful views and clear skies.

Wollemi, if you went over solitary, did you see this bloke? Police are still looking for him.
