I went out for a walk before work this morning up at Bobbin Head. I went up the Warrimoo track beside Cowan Ck and came to the junction with the Sphinx track. On the sign was the logo for the Harbour to Hawksbury Track that I had just about forgotten. Is this track still promoted as a through route? I have seen a route map on a sign near the Spit Bridge but can't remember too many other signs? Not like the GNW anyway. I continued on up steeply to the power line tower and the stone seat. This affords a great view back down the valley of Cowan Ck. On the seat is an inscription in memory of Sonja Huddle who died at only 21 when she was trampled to death while watching a snowboarding competition in Austria. Four young Austrians also died. Very sad.
I continued on leaving the Warrimoo Track and taking the Warri Track which eventually led back to Glengarry Ave and the car which I had parked at the Nth Turramurra shops.
A very pleasant way to spend the early morning.

Sounds like a great start to the day. Wish I had the time! Not familiar with the h2h track, figured it would have been part of the gnw, maybe before it was commissioned?

Sure is. They've often used it in recent years for the oxfam trailwalker. From there you duck back down into the bush and come out at the wildflower gardens at St Ives. Cross mona vale rd and walk steep fire trail down to link through various tracks past davidson and onto davidson park. Then walk round killarney heights, round bantry bay past the ammunition stores, through past seaforth and then your at the spit for the walk to manly. Its a pretty popular walk and I always see walkers waiting to cross mona vale road. Drove through twice on the weekend and saw two groups of 4 crossing each time.

Yes we went through that way when I did Trailwalker a few years back. The route has changed though. When I did it years ago it started at Hunters Hill HS and went north to Brooklyn.

Yes I remember the 2002/3?? bushfires in berowra re-routed trailwalker for a bit. Ive done trailwalker hunters hill to balgowlah (so split between gnw till mt colah then hawksbury to harbour track from there). They seem to chop n change it a bit now. I must do the H2H in one go. Ive done the entire walk in sections but id love to take the hammock and do it in one hit.

I agree. Where does it start? I'm assuming that once it gets to Bobbin Head it follows Cowan Ck to Berowra and then the GNW to Cowan and Brooklyn?

Berowra station (or waters if you can get down there). Though personally id prefer it to start at brooklyn and follow the gnw to berowra and then cross over n down to apple tree bay. To me thats the hawksbury vs berowra waters.

I think that officially it starts where the Benowie Track meets the GNW down the hill from Berowra Station.
A great loop walk would be to start at the southern end of the GNW at Hunters Hill, walk the GNW to the H2H junction at Berowra & then follow the H2H back down to The Spit & then on to Manly. Then catch a ferry back to the start at Hunters Hill. Would be just over 100km I think.
Would make a nice trip, for a long weekend

So at the southern end it starts at Manly and follows the Manly to Spit? Then at the northern end it finishes up at Berowra somewhere? I've not seen any signage up at the Berowra end?

hi Kanangra
from memory its >>>> come up from Bobbin Head/Apple Tree Bay to Berowra Station on the Berowra Track via Winsome Bay and zig-zag track. Cross over the F3 ped bridge onto Pacific Highway, go into Berowra Waters Rd, turn left into Crowley Rd, hit the scrub on your right at the signs, down the hill on that track to join the Berkeley Close firetrail that eventually joins the GNW/Benowie walking track above Sam's Creek, continue on GNW to Berowra Waters, to Cowan, to Brooklyn/Hawkesbury River. Done !

I was up at Berowra this morning and noticed a big Harbour to Hawkesbury sign. Apparently the idea was to connect Manly to the GNW. So the track begins with the Manly to Spit walk. It follows up Middle Harbour and then the Warimoo track to Bobbin Hd. From there it goes around to Appletree Bay then along Cowan Ck to Waratah Bay and then up to Berowra. from there it crosses the highway and takes the link track down to the GNW which it then follows to Berowra waters, Cowan and the Hawkesbury.
