Found these near Chinaman's Hat. They look fake to me, does anyone know the history.

Try ringing the NPWS office in Blackheath. They may be able to tell you if they are fake or not.

Cheers,
Michael.

I'm not sure if they are "genuine" (ie painted by an aboriginal) - but they suddenly appeared in the camp cave - some time in the early 80's I think. And - dulux rather than ochre.

I think they were painted for a film?

BTW - anybody seen any zombies recently out on Kings Tableland?

I was told by a friend well versed in things Aboriginal that they represent art from different parts of Australia and were copied from a book. . Although fake, the friend suggested they were reasonably well done.

Thanks. My reasoning that they were fake was because they are more complex than anything local.

If there are zombies on Kings Tableland they are most likely fake as well.

Yes - we recently overheard a customer in the Lawson Cake Shop talking to one of the staff. He said he has a part as an extra in a new zombie movie being filmed on Kings Tableland.

about a month ago, I did a hike over Solitary and ascended via Kedumba Walls. On the drive back from the bonanza gates, we had to wait as a short section of the road was closed due to filming of this zombie movie.

Maybe there is some cultural significance? It would be interesting to find out. On Brisbane's Mt Coot-tha there is an Aboriginal art trail, with paintings done by Aboriginal artists in the '90s I think. But talking of non-genuine Aboriginal rock art, there is the Brett Whiteley rock art near The Drip on the head waters of the Goulburn River near Mudgee. Apparently it is actually a sacred woman's site too. With some irony I guess, I think they have become a local cultural landmark.

Do you agree with me that Aboriginal Art paintings are awesome and Indigenous people created each and every style very creatively?
