A mate and I are heading to Jagungal in March from Selwyn Quarry. We will approach the mountain from O'Keefes Hut on the northern side. Chapman has a route going up Bogong Ck to Jagungal Saddle and then west to the summit. He also shows a route directly up from the weather station. Does anyone have any comments on either of these routes or other suggestions?

Like many creeks in this region, Bogong Creek is mostly open. However, if memory serves there are some sections of bushes which slow one down. If coming up Farm Ridge you can go straight up Bogong Creek. Just east of here the Doubtful is open, but stay high, even if this means going up and then down. The route from Jagungal Saddle is straightforward, again some bushes in places.

I have not walked up from the weather station for decades but there used to be a track. I was advised that this track is there. Once I went up from 240994, the high point on the road level with the summit, sort of. Do Not go this way. There's a good track from the bend in the road at 232983. This track follows the creek for a short distance, then turns left (east) up to the ridge to hit it at about 240975. A track then goes north and west, turning the summit on the right (east). You can also get up from the ridge at 254975. Some routes involve rocks, so take care. If looking for this on the descent, locate a chunk of quartz and peer over. Easy in good weather, not so in murk.

Typo, sorry. I said " A track then goes north and west, turning the summit on the right (east) " This should start "A track then goes north and east". As the track ascends it peters out in grass. See December BWA page 44.

Sonya is about halfway along the ridge at 1880 metres or so, where it starts to gently climb. Behind her the track veers right to the sloping skyline between the summit block on the left (west) and a smaller lump on the right (east) in the tree top.
