Guy Fawkes River walk - Chaelundi to Newton Boyd

Hi all,
I am after some information from anyone that has walked the Guy Fawkes River, starting at the Chaelundi Campground and descending via Lucifers Thumb (or thereabouts) then walking down to the Old Glen Innes/Grafton Road. Any info greatly appreciated incl.
1.The distance in kms (will have topo maps soon but not arrived yet) - people seem to have walked it in anything from 3 -10 days which gives me not much idea of distance! We have two 13 year olds walking so don't want to have them hiking 30kms a day!
2.What is the walking like?
3.How many times do you need to cross the river?
4.Is the way down signed and is the route along the river signed at all - I suspect you don't really need it?
5. Anything else to be aware of?
6. Recommendations for camping spots along the way?
We are going to do this walk in a few weeks so spring time still. Water levels are low at the moment as you can imagine.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Cheers
Lynn
