Kid-friendly South NSW Coast walk suggestions please

Hi!
We're heading as a family to Moruya for 3 weeks in January, so keen to get our 4 and 5 year olds out into the bush for some daywalks (assuming the fires don't close the tracks). They're not experienced or keen walkers yet, unfortunately, but more like "in training". They've tackled some steep terrain before, but their endurance is only a few kms in a day. Can anyone please suggest any short tracks within 1-2 hours drive of Moruya?
Cheers
Kathryn

Hi Kathryn
It is shaping up to be a very "not usual" summer on the coast. Given your circumstances I think the best advice is to wait and see what the situation is when you get down there and take note of where the fires currently are, what has already been burnt, what the forcast temperatures are. Especially with younger kids involved I think I would play it by ear and see how the weather situation evolves. I dont want to be a killjoy and I hope you are lucky and manage to get a great family holiday with nice weather on the beach and in the bush.

Bingi Dreaming Track is great but there and back will be too far. Give the better half the day off and get picked up at the other end.

With a few swims along the way, that would make for a perfect days walk.

The book "Walking the South Coast- Tracks for Nowra to Eden by Graeme Barrow" is your best bet. It has heaps of short walks in this area, many less than 5km in length.

I don't think it is still in print, but you can buy it second hand on ebay etc.

A pretty tragic 24 hours on the south coast. I hope all walkers are safe and that Catherine, you decided to play it safe and haven't gone down to Moruya. Hopefully we can all get back into the Bush sometime soon, we just don't know how soon that will be.
