The fires have claimed a number of back country huts in KNP including, Four Mile, Round Mt. Happys and Broooks (again). This is a real shame. So much history gone.

How's the weather up there Zapruda? Are things looking more positive for areas towards Namadgi?

A cool change is coming with a nice bit of rain. Hopefully it helps. The fire has continued to burn through the Bogong Peaks Wilderness and slowly around Tantangara, Long Plain and Gulf plain.
It seems that the fire threat to Namadgi from NSW is being controlled brilliantly. Its looking good for now.
Ill be heading out on Friday or Saturday to have a look around Kiandra. KNP is still closed unfortunately.
Ill post some pics of the damage on the weekend.

Some were rebuilds so can be rebuilt and nothing lost really. Some were original and that is tragic, 4 Mile Hut in particular. Someone flew over in a helicopter and ID'd a number of huts standing and destroyed, but I fear the number will increase. EDIT: I had provided a list from KHA but Zapruda beat me to it.
@Zapruda, I'm hoping there is a chance the KNP will be open for Australia Day (unlikely). If so, I'll drive down and have a look around the Nungar area

Me too Crolly. Nungar and the northern part of the park are really special to me. I'm itching to check out some places I really loved out there not just the huts.

Thanks Tyreless. Hopefully because Cesjacks is somewhat easy to access, it was wrapped and the surrounding area cleared... Fingers crossed...

Cesjacks is fine. The local BFB (Rocky Plains I think) partly wrapped it (doors & windows) and then ran a light control burn around the grassland to Doubtful Ck and then N to the Grey Mare FT. At first glance it looks awful, but we know that next spring all the grass will regrow like mad.
So what Fires Near Me shows includes all the control burns.
Cheers
Roger

Damn, thanks GBW. After driving through the area this weekend I didn’t think it stood much of a chance. The Bogong Peaks area got hammered.

That's sad. I visited that hut once. Nice walk in from the road.

And here is an updated list from the KHA/NPWS
KNP & NAMADGI BUSHFIRES UPDATE
Namadgi: as at 29 Jan, the Orroral Valley fire remains out of control. Alert level is Advice. Thanks to the great efforts of the ACT Parks & Conservations and ACT RFS, The Orroral Homestead and Woolshed have survived.
KNP: as at 28 Jan, the NPWS has confirmed that the following 14 huts and buildings have been lost in the recent bushfires in the Kosciuszko National Park.
6 huts, KHA caretakers assist the NPWS with ongoing maintenance:
• Fifteen Mile Spur Hut (new)
• Linesmans No3 (new)
• Happys Hut
• Brooks Hut (still standing but badly burnt)
• Bradley and O’Briens Hut
• Four Mile Hut
8 structures, KHA does not caretake:
• Vickerys Hut (new)
• Delaneys Hut
• Sawyers Hill Rest House
• Round Mountain Hut
• Wolgal Lodge (Kiandra Precinct)
• Kiandra Court House (Kiandra Precinct)
• Pattersons Hut (Kiandra Precinct)
• Matthews Cottage (Kiandra Precinct)
Survived
3 Huts with KHA caretakers have survived the fires (confirmed by NPWS):
• Boobee Hut
• Broken Dam
• Mackays Hut
While many members may have heard news of other affected huts, we are only reporting information that has been confirmed by NPWS.
Members should be aware that this crisis has a long way to go before it is under control. Also, rebuilding and recovery will be a long and difficult process that must be undertaken in cooperation with the NPWS. Until the fires are extinguished the NPWS will have many of its resources committed to fire control and protection efforts. The KHA applauds the enormous commitment that NPWS men and women are making to save the huts, homesteads and other assets within the KNP.
We will continue to keep you informed as more news comes to hand.
Bushfire updates are also being posted on the home page of the KHA website (Latest News).

Whoever was involved saving the Orroral Homestead would have to be some of the bravest people on the Planet. I drove past on Monday on the Momaro Hwy and the fire looked like an erupting volcano.
