Hi all,
The Dunphy 'Gangerang' sketch map shows an old pack route descending Bourkes Buttress (NW of Crafts Walls) down to Kanangra Creek.
On the 3rd ed Kanangra map Bourkes Buttress is the unnamed ridge that runs from Crafts Wall down to Kanangra Creek.
Has any one done this route recently???
If so, did they find the old pack route???
What was the descent like, eg how steep???

Can't help you with that route but If you were interested in going down the other side the route off Pages Pinnacle into Gingra ck is very good.

I'm after info on that specific route.
Pretty sure it can be done, need to get out there and check it out.

Its a straightforward way to go to Kanangra Ck - not a track though, just a spur - steep in places and reasonably open. I think "pack route" refers to no cliffs being present. An easier way to Kanangra Ck is probably to go down off Mt Berry - a little further along. Going down a ridge is always easier.

Well we finally did this trip last week end.
We went down from Mt Berry (as suggested by Dave) and it was a beautiful open ridge with terrific views.
Kanangra Creek was pretty slow, lots of leeches. Hmmh, I love leeches!
Found a great camp site about 400m downstream of the Danae/Kanangra junction.
Did a quick trip up Danae Brook. (Bit scratchy!)
Didn't have time to travel further along Kanangra Creek to Murdering Gully.
We came back up onto the Kilpatrick Causeway from the Danae/Kanangra junction.
Now I feel I have to go back and check out the section of the creek between the Murdering Gully and the Kanangra/Danae junction.
But first I think I'll wait for all the scratches and bruises and leech bites to heal!

Did you get around to walking Danae to Murdering Gully? I was thinking of walking from walking to Kanangra Creek from the turn off at Dance Floor Cave and coming out via Storm Breaker so was wondering if there is a track or just scrub?

Didn't do the creek between that Danae junction and Murdering Gully exit point.
Topo of that section looks interesting!!!
Guessing somebody on this site could help you out.
Can tell you that travelling along the sections of Kanangra Creek that we did was quite slow, (lots of crossings, lots of scratchy stuff to be bypassed, lot of leaches ); yep, awesome!

Thanks Melinda, planning on a late August timeframe.

On this map many Spurs/Ridges/Buttresses from significant points are marked with a circled number (generally 1 thru 4). I thought at first these numbers where simply intended just to avoid confusion when discussing specific routes but I note they are also present at some high points (eg Morrilla Rng/Mt Strongleg - points that are otherwise named).

I'm sure there is a simple and obvious explanation - can someone please fill me in?
