Hi folks

we are planning a walk next week from Round Mountain to Jagungal via Doubtful Creek . Nice views normally.

Does anyone in the group have any idea on the Tumut r at the farm ridge ford ? how high is that at the moment ? wadeable or major exercise to cross?

I think that is the only major obstacle other than multiple sq kilometres of mud. any others advice most welcome!

Cant be worse than the Lodden in 1992 though can it ??

No need to tell me the timing is bad; that is set by others. I agree, 1 month after the big thaw and in the moddle of the most rain in 10 years doesn't look good.

I did the the ford across the Tumut after some very heavy rain in May last year, besides being very cold it was crossable, the water was crutch height, see photo in this thread we crossed back the next day and the Tumut had gone back down a lot.

I doubt that you will encounter a lot of mud and if you do it will not be very deep.

Most rainfall stations in that valley have recorded their highest ever annual rainfall totals.

It takes more than rain to make mud.
