BoM Colo River Height data gone

It looks like in the last week or so, the Bureau of Meteorology has stopped reporting river height data for the Colo River at Upper Colo. This is a shame as it is the only station that gives any indication of river height for all of Wollemi NP, and it was handy for planning liloing trips. I've sent the bureau feedback (http://www.bom.gov.au/other/feedback/) regarding this. If you are a user of the data, you might like to contact them too. Perhaps we can get it reinstated.

Good news (sort of). I received a response from the BoM:
"The Colo gauge is out of action and should be repaired within a few weeks. We are following this up with the agency that owns and operates the gauge. In the mean time, I suggest you study the recent rainfall maps which will indicate any likely rises in river levels. There hasn't been any significant rain in the area for some time so river levels would be relatively low."
So it looks like a temporary outage.

I noticed that about two weeks ago! I watched the gauge give tidal influence readings for a few days before they shut it down. I'll post the data soon for giggles.

Do you have any info on the Glen Davis gauge? Used to watch it but it too went offline 6 months ago?.......

Thanks for chasing it up Tom.

Something is happening at the BoM. Penny pinching?

Here in Canberra the Doppler radar was out of action for over a week.

Maybe if we start taking our own weather readings and water level datum, things might actually get more accurate. Maybe we should just get rid of the BoM altogether? I'm no fan of them.

Imagine if we all did our day jobs as inaccurately as they do ... how long do you reckon you'd be tolerated by your employer?

Warren.

well, as BOM have noted that they don't own the item or run the item and have advised the owner that it's out of order, I don't see how it's penny pinching by the BOM ?

And I thought it was the right of none Canberra folk to have a go the Public Service!! I think the BOM is a fantastic public service, a valuable community asset. If you know better then simply ignore them. I would be interested to see if you could predict what time you will take a dump tomorrow not to mention the weather!! Give me a break.
