Where to take my Malamute Dog to the Snow??

Sat 11 Jul, 2015 12:38 pm

Hi, I have spent way to long trying to research this and not really getting anywhere.

looking to take my Alaskan Malamute dog to the snow Tomorrow (Sunday 12th July) from Melbourne

I have concluded the following

- Dinner Plains is dog friendly, how ever further to travel and you need to register etc, forced to be on lead.
- Lake Mountain road, you are not allowed in the park, but you can try before the toll point they say, but not sure if there will be snow.
- Mt margaret / buxton marysville. Lady on the phone mentioned some spot in this location that dogs go, not sure if it would have snow.
- There is some cold front on the news today / tomorrow, will that increase my chance of snow?

I will try both spots tomorrow, but if anyone can save me the time and provide good advice as to if there will be snow in either locations and would I need chains for those areas. If you have any other suggestions love to hear it.

Thanks :D

Sorry this thread has only just appeared for me using the active topics button.

Next time your free and want to let your dog run around in the snow, head out around Mt Useful, Mt Selma, Mt Matlock etc.

These tracks / roads are pretty good dirt roads, but heading out there in the snow id strongly suggest the use of a 4WD vehicle with full recovery gear, and bring a good chainsaw too just in case.

Travis.
