Crinolene- Long Hill circuit

I am looking at doing the Crinolene circuit in late May or early June. I have done it before in May 2012. It snowed! .What are the chances of water flowing in the creek on Long Hill Plateau?

Its very dry in that area currently. You would want some good rain between now and then.

If We do it, then we 'll have carry water in, say 4 litres extra. How is the track these days? Has anyone done any work on it all ? .Esp. the track going anti clockwise after the rock shelter.

I did it last May clock-wise, the track was hard to follow in parts but a fire had been through recently and the walking was (reasonably) easy heading east from the northern cliffs of Long Hill to the rock shelter. The track heading north after the campsite was scrubbier as I missed the track completely.

Unless it has gotten much worse if you are happy with a little bush bashing and can navigate it will be no problem.

I didn't find the water tank, but I carried extra water and did not look very hard.

It has rained a bit lately . What do walkers think about the chances of water being found in Long Hill Creek?
I f I cannot get people to come with me I might do it solo and return via MacMillan's track over Mt. Tamboritha , going clockwise.
I think It will be slow going so I would plan to cart at least 4 L. of extra water from Long Hill Campsite on day one/first night halt to the Little Tamboritha Saddle on MacMillan's track for a second night halt and then push on down the top of the spur back to Breakfast creek on the third day.
Of course if there is no water in Long Hill Creek then one would be forced to return the way one hiked in, back over Mt Ligar.

Buller had >70mm rain Wednesday so I would be surprised if some of that didn't come south; plus there are at least 3 dams on the way down from Mt Tamboritha I would drink out of two of them.

I have a super duper water pump up filter. I can drink out of a green puddle if I need to with this device. .

If you get around to the walk I would like to know what the water condition is like at Long Creek. I am thinking of doing the walk again some time soon.

It looks like I will be doing a solo hike up the Bluff this weekend instead.
I might have a crack at the Crinolene circuit in Mid June which would mean it could snow up there. It snowed last time I was on Long Hill doing that trek in May 2012.

I have moved this Crinolene hike to mid October. I will let you all know how I get on.
