I'm planning to do a trip up Mt Bogong next month, and we'll have to camp the night before and after we go up, and was wondering if it is possible to camp at Mountain Creek, at the base of the Staircase Spur? Or if not, where the closest place we are allowed to camp will be.
Thanks in advance

The Picnic Area near the road is actually also a camping area. There is also room for one small tent near the small carpark just before the first creek crossing.

Thanks for that NNW.
I'm looking forward to our trip as it'll be our first walk in Victoria.

Yes, there's plenty of room for camping. There's at least 3 picnic tables, several fireplaces, toilets and plenty of water in the creek.

Also trout in the creek for those with a Vic Recreational Fishing Licence and the inclination and know-how.
