Bluff southern circuit, Jamieson spur

Postby Dutchy » Thu 02 Jul, 2015 5:01 pm

Hi all,
We're thinking of doing the Bluff Southern Circuit this weekend and tried finding info on the condition of Jamieson spur without success. Has anyone been up there recently??
Is it still as horribly overgrown?

I think it has been just under a year since I did this circuit. I loved it, and had a snowy night in the campsite below Mt Clear. I was also blown away by the beauty of some of the big old snow gums around the King Billies. A little too much road, but bearable as I remember it being closed in winter?
The descent down Jamieson spur was nice for the most part. The last couple of hundred vertical meters was pretty thick and trying and moderately overgrown for a bit longer.
It didn't take that long, and the real trying bits didn't last. Bring gaiters if you want your shins to be intact.
All up, I liked the circuit and enjoyed all of it. Especially popping out at the bottom of the hill exactly where I planned. Very rewarding for those still using a map and compass.
Not very recent, but if things haven't changed plan on some scrub bashing and a little hard work and all will be swell.
Good luck and enjoy.
Justin.
