Overnight Parking at Bogong Village

I am wondering if there is overnight parking at Bogong Village, say for three nights. I've parked on the Bogong High Plains road at the top of the village about ten years ago, but wondering if there's somewhere in the village itself. Cheers

Not strictly Bogong Village but not far away and near the base of some of the tracks. We parked near the power station at the far south end of Lake Guy. Actually left both our car and caravan there for two nights.

Access to Bogong Village remains closed according to the Major Projects site https://bigbuild.vic.gov.au/projects/mr ... ect-update
Normally there would be parking available near the toilet block. Maybe state the purpose and we could come up with solutions.

On the High Plains road near Bogong Village there's an inside corner where a track goes to The Springs. A few hundred metres down the HP road there may be a spot where one can legally park. The yellow box is Bogong Village. The red line is the start of the track to The Springs. The orange circle is possible car parking.

That's all roadworks for the landslip at the moment, I would suggest not parking there!

The orange circle on the map is to the south of the landslip, probably on the short road where the white ute is. However, the proximity of the treeless slope indicates that the side road is not a good place to park. The inside corner where the red line is shown - the start of the track to The Springs - has a fairly wide shoulder. Parking may be prohibited there.

Would an alternate of parking at Big Hill carpark, and starting a loop from their work.
Going anti-clockwise (walking to Fainters, across to hight plains, down through Bogong Village and up to Big Hill carpark) would mean finishing on an uphill slog, but if you're starting from Bogong Village, and uphill slog is expected. Going clockwise, and walking down from Fainters would be nice way to end. But without knowledge of proposed route, just idle speculation on my part.

I'm not keen on going from the High Plains Road to the car Big Hill car park at the end of the trip. Clockwiselooks better to me, finishing over Fainters.

Big Hill is a good way to get to the high plains, albeit with a bit of a slog past The Springs. It's about four hours from the car park to Bogong Jack, and a few more to Fainter North. After that there are two routes - over the ridge to Jaithmathang or on the old 4WD track to Tawonga Huts. The ridge has better views and less climbing at the end. On the way back there's one shortish climb from The Springs, with the rest being downhill or flat.

AFAIK foot access through Bogong Village is also verboten while the landslip road works continue.
The route down off Mt. Arthur via Black Possum spur is brutally steep. File under NEVER AGAIN.
Another way to access the BHP is from Howman's Gap either crossing Rocky Valley Creek ( waist deep in January :-0 ) or up Road No. 24.

You can park near the now closed Cable track junction with the BHP road and use the Spion Kopje fire trail .
In spring crossing Rocky Valley Creek at the 4 WD ford could be dicey .
The top of the Cable Track is IMHO too close to Bogong Village at the moment with much coming and going
by the Land slip repair crews and vehicles.
I 'd argue that the Big Hill road Car Park via West Kiewa Logging road and the Spring saddle track (?? name?? )
up to the Spring Saddle itself is quicker than going via Big Hill itself. I have walked both routes.
While the BHP road was closed some people accessed the BHP from the Gt. Alpine road at Brandy Mine creek fire trail and Paling Spur.
We used Young's top last Dec. starting at the Mt. Hotham airport. That was quite a mission.

From the Big Hill Lookout to The Springs is as follows.
Big Hill Fire Track is 5.6 kilometres, 330 metres of climbing, steepest 95 metres/kilometre.
West Kiewa Logging Road is 7.2 kilometres, 430 metres of climbing, steepest 145 metres/kilometre.
The West Kiewa Logging Road has a number of small bumps and they add up to 30% more climbing than the Big Hill Fire Track.

That is, the West Kiewa Logging road is longer with more climbing and is steeper than the Big Hill Fire Track. These are facts.

I parked my car at Ropers Lookout on the BHP Rd in 2017 for 3 days no problem, and slogged it up Roper Track (never again!') I want to do a night on the Fainters out and back , thinking parking a car on Spring Saddle Track wouldn't be a problem since the Village is still closed

I was at The Springs at Christmas. There was a sign saying that the track to the Falls Creek Road was closed. Another option is to start at Big Hill Car Park. There's flat ground and it's a bit lumpy, but it's sheltered. The road in is good for 2WD. From there it's a longish morning to Fainters. I walked to the Big Hill turnoff in about 75 minutes, where there's a small flat sheltered campsite. Big Hill has flat sites, a bit exposed with good views. From there it's downhill to The Springs, and then a slog to Bogong Jack, water. There are three soaks on the north side of Fainter North. Campsites after Bogong Jack are exposed or minimal until Little Plain. This

is the route. Point 1 is the Big Hill turnoff, and point 2 is Bogong Jack.

Went for a stroll up to the Fainters on Good Friday , parked at Big Hill Carpark thanks Lops for the idea, took me about 5 and half hours to Fainter North best views in the house, saw a group of 6 walking on thru to Tawonga Huts would imagine would be heaving with people from there and beyond this weekend.
On the return this morning a group of horse riders were at Bogong Jack Saddle the place was a manure farm I don't know how they can camp amongst the litter of horse shat and smell.. was a case of dodging the land mines to get to other side, they were collecting water to the east of the saddle, was told by John Wayne there is a tap to turn on 50 meters up from the gates to let the water feed out the pipe, not sure if he was taking the piiss out of me.....?

Was thinking a push bike until the snow and stomp up in winter , make some of the road bash a bit quicker down lower
