Walhalla alpine walking track

I was hoping to do the walk from Walhalla to Mt Baw Baw and back over 3 to 4 days this January (80 km or so). I’m not finding any current info about the state of the trail so I’m wondering if anyone has been here recently? I would like to drive to the nearest parking (coming from Melbourne/Moe) and walk from my car to one end (probably Walhalla first) and then to the other. There used to be a website about this walk but now the site is gaming ads. I know this is the first section of the AAWT so I’m confident people have been there this season. Any suggestions appreciated

BTAC have cleared the AAWT from O ' Shea's Mill to Stronach's camp.
It has taken years to complete the whole job.
The track is the AAWT.It is well marked and easy to follow.
Get the latest AAWT guide book by Chapman , Chapman and Sieseman.
Surely you could convince a friend to do a car shuttle with one car left at Walhalla and
the other Car near Stronach's camp on the Thompson Valley road ?
Failing that there could be a bushwalking taxi of sorts. Expect to pay a lot for that .
Then you would walk it from Stronach's camp to Walhalla.
Mt. Baw Baw village is kind of off the AAWT but we helped clear that linking track too.
You 'll find water at Talbot hut ruins and near the Whitelaw hut ruins.
O' Shea's mill camp site on the East Tyers river can be busy with drive in
Yobbos so you have been warned.
I think the Poverty Point bridge is still shut.

Not a first poster though. Someone with a level of credibility who has responded to others before when she has asked questions and not a person I would consider a time waster. Perhaps you did not offer advice worthy of a response. I had a go at first time posters who do not respond but this is entirely different. Ms Pink Cap is a regular enough for me. I' m sorry I can't help her out.

Hi Pinkcap,

I undertook the walk from Walhalla to Mt Baw Baw approximately 6 weeks ago. Please note this was a solo trip 1 day only so I completed approximately half / 3/4 and returned to Walhalla - which took me most of the day.
The portion I completed was fine. Track was in decent condition and easy to follow there were no real markings - so a map might be required or an app to pinpoint but pretty straight forward. One thing to note is the bridge over the Thomson River is closed and an alternative route is suggested.
I'll leave it up to you whether or not you take the bridge or the alternate route.
All in all a lovely day the view down the Thomson River is fantastic and there is a nice table sitting above the river about hour out from Walhalla on the far side of the Thomson. I started the walk from the commencement / finish point of the AAWT. There were also a number of places to get water early on from creeks running across the trail. I filled up the water bottles direct from the creek with no ill effects.
The walk is well shaded with bush on either side. Be mindful of snakes basking on the trail and I also managed to spot a couple of the Lace monitor (Varanus varius) which was cool.
