Sheepyard Flats: Easter weekend

So a few friends and I are taking my little terror camping for the Easter weekend up to Sheepyard flats past Mansfield.

Given it's a long weekend I'm guessing it will be super busy. We're going up early Friday morning (real early so the terror will hopefully sleep most of the way).

Anyone able to advise if we are likely to get a spot? Would just like to know whether I should be planning on going a little further in: 8 mile or beyond etc....

Hi Erich, i think you should be fine finding somewhere to camp at sheepyards this weekend. Your right it will get busy, really busy so provided you dont mind being surrounded with others then you should have a good easter break there. I would say you should be fine arriving midday Friday, it will continue to fill through the afternoon and even Saturday.

Id certainly have a plan B/C just in case you get there and simply dont like the look of what you see but provided your not after somewhere all on your own then you'll be fine.

Travis.

Thanks Travis - just what I was hoping to hear.

Don't mind if it's busy (am hoping there will be some kids my guy can play with).

I would go for the upper Howqua campsite rather than Sheep yard flat. I like Sheep yard flat but generally mid winter is the best there in terms of no people, no flies, no total fire bans etc.

Wall. To. Wall. People.
Get there early enough and you'll be OK. If you can stand that sort of crowd.

Normally my answer would be "no - not my sort of crowd. But this is with kids so more people is not so bad." I may quickly change my mind if it's like Grand Final day at the MCG with people blasting music etc. Will see how we go, as well as whether I end up getting arrested for assault (I REALLY don't like rude people who are inconsiderate of others).....

NNW, "early enough" would have been last week. School holidays this week in Victoria.

I'm going nowhere until the unholydays are over.

... and so, how was it? Crowded? Bogan-ish? Peaceful? Kid friendly?
