Yesterday I went for a walk at the Woodlands Historic Park and Gellibrand Hill. It is extremely close to Melbourne, right next to the Tullamarine Airport and you get fantastic views of the airport and city. There is plenty of wildlife there and heaps of kangaroos, although sadly, the rabbits seem out of control. You can walk, bike ride or ride horses there. I did see some motor bikes but they were not allowed. I called Parks Vic and they said camping is not permitted although the park is open 24 hrs for wildlife observation etc. and I guess night photography of the city skyline 19 kms away and airport. Well worth a visit for urban day walks.

I've done a lot of walking here, while staying at Melbourne airport, and it is a nice place for a wander.

You previously were able to access it on foot from Melbourne airport by walking under the HIALS for runway 27, but access on that track has now been blocked, so I'm unable to get there now :(
