Howdy all. Here is a list of thirty top Victorian peaks for you. Tick (vote for) the ones you've done and we'll get an idea of Victoria's top tops to stand on top of ... and possible peaks for planning our next hike.

I camped on top of Buggary once. It was a lovely place to watch the sunset from.
Oh yeh sorry I was carried away with sweet memories there for a moment... You can access Buggary from Howitt across the Crosscut Saw or via Horrible Gap from Speculation and I have been down Queens spur to the Howqua before as well but that wasn't that enjoyable, steep and slippery to begin then into thick regrowth.

A few good peaks are missing. I bagged Mt Jaithmathang over Easter and it isn't there either - and I set up the list!

What about Mount Wycheproof.

Mount Wycheproof is a mountain located near the small town of Wycheproof, Australia. Standing at 43 metres (141 ft) above the surrounding terrain, Mount Wycheproof has the distinction of being the smallest registered mountain in the world.

Hi Cherry,

Mt Wycheproof is a con. I suggest the accepted method of measuring peaks is height Above Sea Level. Everest is acknowledged and measured as the worlds highest mount. , Pedants may argue Manua Kea is taller, but 2/3 of it is under water. Other Everest deniers argue that Chimborazo in Ecuador is taller when measured from the centre of the Earth.

Mt Wycheproof is 148m ASL. I know of at least 5 Victorian peaks of lesser stature:
Mt Dryden 68
Mt Ingoldsby 120
Mt Chaucer 126
Mt Bellarine 136
Mt Cooper 137

I'm always fasacinated by the inclusions and omissions on peakbagging lists.
Tamboritha and Ligar, but not Reynard, Spion Kopje or Wellington.
Nothing from the stretch from MacDonald over Clear to the King Billies.
Nothing from the Hotham area except Feathertop.

ps: Whoops, and I missed ticking off Arapiles.

Re Mt Whycheproof

Surely quality over quanity counts, where else can you enjoy a very short walk to the pub after "scaling"a peak.

I climbed Mt Baw Baw this weekend, Mt Nelse the weekend before and my 2nd assault on Mt . Feather top is coming up in two weeks.

just got back from mt . Feathertop. It never gets boring or too easy !. I have now climbed it twice within a few months.

mt Loch climbed from the bottom of Machinery spur should be on your list for sure. It takes some energy to ascend to the summit from the valley floor.

Add my 5 cents worth for Mt Howitt and The cross cut saw, both are very scenic and worthwhile summit walks.

add Mt Ligar/ aka The crinoline to that list of peaks I have scaled in Victoria on foot. The Crinoline is tough one in snow and rain.
I thought the Mt Ligar is higher than 1100 M.

Nice list there! I've ticked off Bogong, Feathertop, Donna Buang, The Bluff, Baw Baw and Difficult. I hadn't realised that there was so little on my Victorian resume. Although in my (meagre) defence, I've done Bogong and Feathertop quite a few times.

I have also climbed Spion Kopje in the Wellington Plains area. MT Bogong is also in my bag of peaks.

A thought. The poll at the start of this thread show that Bogong and Feathertop have been climbed by more people than any other peaks. Could this be a reflection of the demographics of this website, the attractiveness of those two peaks, a combination, or something else? From a technical point of view, most of the peaks are not difficult, with only a half day of walking on good tracks to get to the top. Of course you could approach Baw Baw From the ACT or Arapiles via Tiger Wall, and this would be harder. Walking to Arapiles from the ACT is not recommended.

Trouble is, you can't change your log on that list: I missed a couple first time around and have since done a few more, so it's not that accurate.

Mainly reflects the status of the peaks, plus the ease of access. Feathertop and Bogong are in the top 5 best known Victorian mountains and also the highest.
