Parking for Mt Stirling overnight walk

Was just wondering if there is sufficient (free?) parking along the Circuit rd near Craig's Hut to leave the car for a day or two and walk to Craig's Hut and Mt Stirling and camp overnight, returning back to the car a day or two later. I'm planning to do this late Feb/early March 2012. From reading others' experiences, I gather that there is a very hefty $52 charge to park at Telephone Box Junction. Would really prefer to avoid that, not to mention the route maybe isn't as ideal.

Also, does anyone know if Parks Vic intend to open up the rest of Wilson's Prom to overnight walks (ie circuit walk to Sealers Cove, Waterloo Bay, etc) by late February? I did email them a little while ago and they said they had no info and to check the website, but I was wondering if anyone had any info straight from the rangers about plans? I'm not expecting exact dates, just an idea of their intentions and if there is even a possibility.

Thanks!

You only have to pay for resort entry (parking) during the ski season. It's free for the majority of the year :)

Ahh, good news! For some reason I assumed that it was payable all year round. OK, but do you know the answer to the other question, regarding parking near Craig's Hut?

This map ( http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/__data/assets ... irling.pdf ) shows the Circuit Rd picnic area pretty close by and I assume there's ample parking there - any issues parking overnight?

Must admit I haven't paid too much attention to the Craigs hut turnoff, can't imagine parking being a problem though. There's certainly adequate parking at Telephone Box Junction, King Saddle, Howqua Gap etc.

Plenty of room at Craigs Hut turnoff. Also at base of Monument track if you want to go that way as well.
