Mt Barney - unnamed spur that joins Logan's Ridge

Fri 30 Aug, 2024 11:36 am

Hi,
I've been wondering why the very obvious ridge (or sub-ridge) that runs at an angle to the south of Logan's Ridge (but joins it closer to the top) doesn't appear to be a known route. Does anyone know anything about it? I assume cliffs have something to do with it, but keep staring at drone footage wondering if there is a way through.
Thanks
Stu

I wouldn't be calling that a ridge. No more than any other spur jutting out from any other ridge.
It's a bit of wishful thinking to suggest it joins Logans that high up. It's definitely a challenge with the cliffs and the vegetation as it is.
To get any decent enough shots by drone. Did you get permission to take off and land within the national Park?
If you flew from outside the park then you are an unusually superb pilot. VLOS and all.
I'd like to hear about your effort.

Thanks Aardvark, fair call, it's probably a spur. I was studying footage on Youtube from Bush Sights, so no drones were used personally. I also noted the feature the last time I climbed Logan's (when you're at the top of the Notch looking down, it certainly feels like there's a separate spur/ridge to your right).

Either way, the aerial photo makes it look like it warrants a route!

That shot does make it look like something. I would suggest though, you ask for a return ticket when you start out.
