A few friends & myself are looking to head to Sundown on the 27/28 Aug.
Are there any opinions on whether the "McAllister Ck & Mt Donaldson Circuit" is a better overnighter experience than Mt Lofty.
We realise we are adding an extra hour or so driving to get to the SW entrance to do Donaldson rather than the NE entrance access for Lofty...and we are wondering if the extra drive is going to result in a better experience.
Any & all views are welcomed and eagerly anticipated

Hi Shawn,
Did you get to Sundown? I would love to hear about it as I would like to plan a hike down that way myself.
Cheers,
Karl

Mt Donaldson from the south west corner and then along the ridge to near Rats Castle and over the other side of the gorge to a ridge or gully before Blue Gorge and back along the ridge csts to OOline Ck ( try to miss the scunge) is probably the best trip in Sundown, Can be very dry, but has good views in many spots. Done it twice, Mt Donaldson can be a nice spot to camp.

thanks for the tip.
Our trip was pretty much washed out and we only did a short-ish trek up the river, camped overnight & returned the next day.
