I'm thinking about going along the top of the Stretcher track and then maybe some of the border line in a week or so. But I want to be able to get water supply. It looks like halfway along the ridge top theres fairly easy access to either Waterfall Creek to the north or England Creek to the south. Also, once you get out along the border a little north past the Stinson turnoff, it looks like the south branch of Christmas creek is very easy access.
Just wondering if anyone can help me with those details?

The only water supply I know of along there is about 600m down the Stinson track from Pt. Lookout; when you get to the turnoff to the wreck site leave the track to the left (SW) and drop down to the creek - not far. You might find a track of sorts as it is a known reasonably reliable water source.

Thanks for that, tomh. That is actually marked as a track on my topo, so it will make a pretty solid plan B.
Plan A is if I can get to one of the creeks about 4.5km back to the west from the ridgetop track. Its 500mtr offtrack to either one, and I know its going to be a fair bit of undergrowth, but I dont know whether it would be considered a reasonable thing to attempt or just too much heavy going. I guess the main reason is that I'm trying to put together a few recreational days without any long haul days.....I'm ready for a good recharge, and I'm hoping this is one area that I won't encounter too many pedestrians for this time of year.

Before you do the Stretcher Track, you might want to read the following threads first:
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8997viewtopic.php?f=48&t=4167viewtopic.php?f=38&t=4785Sounds like there is not much of a track to follow due to regrowth and lack of use.
After you do it, perhaps post a trip report?

I had read two of those threads previously, but this time I actually listened to what the guys were saying.
Yeah, its not a solo R&R trip, which is what I'm after at the moment.
I'll save the Stretcher Track for when I can enlist a few machete wielding maniacs.
I'll have to come up with another idea for somewhere I can hide out for a few days.
