If you go via Emu Creek, the road is in great disrepair and creek crossing will not allow a 2wd over them. We checked them out 2 weeks ago and honestly you cannot get through to South Branch via any vehicle at the moment. Trees down and road very badly damaged after floods. We cleared some rocks and drove our Subaru forester as far as we were game to go, but one creek crossing stopped us with thick mud on other side and having no winch, we decided to leave it for another day. If you go in that way, drop the cars at the gate after Don's place and leave there and walk the rest of the way in. We do Superbus mainly from Teviot Gap, as you can leave your car near the gate at the Head road. This is by far the easiest and quickest way to got to Mt Superbus, but make sure you have a good toppo map and can navigate. These days there seems to be a fairly obvious track through to the top. If you are going to the lincoln Wreck, then Emu creek is a good way to do it, but I still prefer the Teviot route the best.
