Green mountain camp grounds

Once again we are being let down/screwed by the powers that be. The very affordable green mountain campsites is in the process of being sold off/tendered out, by the qld government . Get in quick everybody, the relaxed comfortable atmosphere, where wildlife abounds,beautiful sunsets, walking tracks at your door, hot showers and is accessible to all at only $5.60 per person per night (cheaper for children) is going to be turned into a commercial venture where who knows what will happen to it. Probably cabins and safari tents at $100 plus a night( like the other side of the mountain) certainly not for the likes of me. Another place I have been going for over 25 years that just won't be the same anymore. Sometimes things just suck SOOOOO much

Do you have a link to a website or more information that confirms this news? I had a quick look online and couldn't find anything about this.

Hi Nungulba I think the old pine tree was struck by lightning many years ago , if I remember correctly. I will have to reread Peter O'Reillys book I'm sure he talks about it

I agree Pteropus, why do good things/places always have to be commercialized. The best thing about the campgrounds is everyone can afford it. The wonderful rainforest is able to be enjoyed by all, for a couple of days or a week or 2. I also like to walk over on my own from Binna burra and spend a few days doing day walks or remote campsites from green mountains as it's so affordable. I can spend a week up there easy.
