Mt Lindesay - a convoluted mess?

I'll be heading over to Lindesay soon with two of my climbing buddies. I have been told by staff at K2 Base Camp (as well as reading the description of one particular wikiloc file) that the rap stations are a joke! Climbing tape left by many parties, pretty messy.

On top of that, I just found out this:

This is not possible?? To see that in 2019 is absolutely incredible.

Can anyone confirm that that "thing" is no longer there? If it is, I'll certainly remove and dispose of the whole object.

I went up Mt Lindesay a month ago, I don't remember seeing that thing.. it may have missed my eye though.

The big chain around the rock near the top is still there, fixed with an odd and unsettling selection of padlocks...
I wouldn't call the rap stations messy but I did see some tape around that could be removed.

Fixed ropes remain at the start of the climb and the chimney climb with the aid of a tree is still necessary.

Absolutely insane! A collection of padlocks or a horror museum. Seriously it deserves a bolt cutting clean up!

Going to remove as much mess as i can. Padlocks should be easy with a shim but one of my buddies starts work at 5 on that day so we won't have much time on the mountain to do the hardware cleaning.

Yes it was a very nice walk up. Short compared to regular day hikes but a lot more intense, for sure.

ofuros, your photos look more intimidating than the real thing but still it is a demanding hike-climb and a good head for heights is a must. No views from the top, unfortunately. Good views from the first to the second tier of cliffs though.

Notes:

1. It can be done without a rope. One of us actually didn't use it on the way down. He just down climbed all the rappelling sections. The first one on the very top is quite dicey, one slip and that would be it; so the two of us chose to abseil the section with the direct view of Vidler's Chimney, plus the fact that carrying a rope and not using it would be very silly.

2. Watch for gympie-gympie in the lower section of the mountain. I certainly know now what it feels like. Damn thing!

The pain is definitely worse than being stung by stinging nettles. Lasts longer too.

Glad you made a safe acsent/descent...its a impressive looking lump of rock from any angle.

Haha yes there's a few on the mountain. Awful things!

Abseiling down is fun and safer so i'd much prefer to do that than downclimb..

Curious as to how gracefully the tree chimney was downclimbed?
