I'm a long time walker of the coast and hills of Adelaide but want to see something new and go further... I average anywhere between 35 and 60kms when I go out so thought Adelaide to goolwa would be fun... The only issue is the roads... Between Mt compass and goolwa they are very dangerous to walk along... I'd follow the beach but this adds many more kms and I'd like to go through hills a bit.. Are there many tracks along or around this area..

From Goolwa to Victor Harbour there is the Encounter bikeway, which is a shared walking cycling trail.
https://www.victor.sa.gov.au/webdata/re ... ikeway.pdfFrom Victor Harbour to Adelaide you could then follow the Heysen Trail which would take you past Mt Compass.
so theoretically you could walk from Goolwa to Adelaide along trails!
